On our way north from LA we stopped for lunch at a Mexican restaurant we like right at the end of the famous Santa Monica pier. On the beach were almost 4000 crosses, each representing a US soldier killed in the current combat in Iraq.


This was a sobering and surreal experience for all of us.
One of the signs also said that if they were to put out across for every Iraqi killed it would take up the whole beach. (It's a bloody big beach!)
This is a huge issue here in the US; people are very passionate about it and it's no wonder when you consider that not only have over 3800 US soldiers died, more than 56,000 others have been wounded.

Yes very sobering, but just because you are on tour does not mean you get away with not picking a score for this weekend!!
